The Eat Clean Diet Workout by Tosca Reno

I’ve just finished reading a great book by Tosca Reno. If you ever thought you were too old to get started getting in shape, you’ll love this book. Tosca was 40 years old and over 200 pounds when she decided she wanted better health for herself. Now, at age 49, she looks like she came straight out of a fitness magazine, like Oxygen, the magazine her husband publishes.

This was a terrific book. One of the better health and fitness books I’ve read. Not only does Tosca cover many types of exercises, including using machines, free weights, bands and swiss balls, but she also covers things like evaluating your fitness level, different types of exercise gadgets, and motivation. She assumes her reader (that’s YOU) knows nothing about working out and starts with basic, easy to understand information. She helps get you motivated and stay motivated. This books really shows you that spending 30 minutes, 4 days a week can really get you in the best shape of your life.

But, what I really like best about her book is that there were alot of little tidbits of information in the exercise section that really made a difference in my workouts. She shows you each exercise and what muscle it targets. She also shows you how slight modifications in how you grip a bar can affect your workouts in a big way. She covered every body part showing different types of exercise. She has given you whole routines that can be done each week from beginner to intermediate.

The DVD that came with the book was about 25 minutes long, and showed some basic exercises, but definitely the majority of helpful information was in the book. Overall, a great book for people who are beginners to immediate level. I highly recommend it!

Tosca also has some other books out that I’ve heard are very good. I’ll be checking out her Eat Clean Diet book next. Stay tuned for that review.
