Library Loving Challenge was a success!

Thanks to everyone who left comment on my blog during the Library Loving Challenge! Though I only got 42 comments, which meant the donation would be $31.50, I am such a sucker for libraries and books that I decided to donate the $100 and a box of books. I will be posting pics from the library donation when I go next weekend!

I really enjoyed the challenge and look forward to more like it. I loved “meeting” all my commenters and hearing all about how much the blogging world loves libraries as much as I do. Here are a few of your comments:

From Katie: “I am a library junkie! So happy that you are supporting your library and may post this on my blog as well!”

From Taffy: “Hi library-loving blogger! I wish my library was bigger so it could hold more books!”

From The She-Ray: “I remember how much I loved to read as a kid, and feel sad for the young ones who haven’t discovered the pleasures of reading! Though I don’t have children of my own yet, these tips seem like they’d be helpful.”

I found some great new blogs to read and can’t wait to really get out there in the blogosphere!

Til the next chapter,
Deanna

My husband and the book nook

About 2 years ago, after waiting many years for the right time, we finally decided to move from Michigan to Colorado.  Unbeknown-st to my family, I was having a hard time trying to figure out how I was going to part with my book collection.  I wouldn’t say it was a huge collection, but it was my own personal collection of books that I enjoyed reading and rereading.  I knew I couldn’t haul it all the way cross country because we were trying to go minimal and start our lives fresh.  So I had to choose only my favorites and leave the rest behind.  I went through each book, looking at the notes in the margin, the highlighted sections that I felt were important to be able to find easily and chose enough books to fit in one box.  Sadly, I wrote the titles of the books left behind, and figured I would find copies when I got out to Colorado.

Fast forward 2 years, we are very settled into our new home and enjoying our lives started fresh. Yesterday, my husband and I rearranged our bedroom and created a cozy corner with book light, table, chair and sofa so that I can have a nice reading area! And of course, still having a box of books packed up, with a few taken out over the last year and laying bedside, I decided I finally needed a bookshelf to restart my collection. We excitedly went shopping and I picked out a 7 foot tall, 5 shelf bookshelf.  I assembled it all by myself (yay, me!!) and it is now sitting in my book nook with about a shelf filled.

It’s so exciting to see all those empty shelves! Because what that now means is that I can start collecting again.  Oh joyous day!!!  My husband cannot possibly realize the happiness he has brought me from a small 5×5 foot area he made for me that I can call my own. Thank you honey, you are my life, my happiness and my inspiration!
